My
name is Kate Kimball, and I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. I
graduated from Jordan High School in 1999, and was awarded the
1998 Henry Eyring Chemistry Award from the University of Utah.
I began attending the University of Utah in 1998, and will finish
with my bachelor's of science degree in Gender Studies in December
2003. I have a strong background in chemistry and biology, however
my interests changed before I completed those degrees. |

Many
of my interests revolve around women's issues, such as: equality
in the work force, history, political representation, and recovery
from rape, drug abuse, etc. I have been involved with the Rape
Recovery Center as a volunteer since February 2003. I also regularly
volunteer as a camp counselor for the Foundation for Children
and Youth with Diabetes. |

Writing
is one of my strongest skills. Poetry, analytical essays, historical
registers, and short stories are the styles that I have done.
The historical registers have largely been influenced by my
current job as an archivist in the Manuscripts Division, Special
Collections, J. Willard Marriott Library, where I have been
working since August of 1999. I have specialized in archiving
the fields of science, communications, religion, politics and
government, and recreation and leisure. |

Prior
to the Olympics in Salt Lake City 2002, I worked closely with
the Ski Archives and conducted several tours and displays of
the Utah Ski Archive collection, which is composed of over 200
collections of correspondence, oral histories, brochures, pamphlets,
posters, scrapbooks, news clippings, and memorabilia. I am looking
for a career where I can utilize my strong leadership qualities,
my micro and macro management abilities, and passion for writing. |
